PENDIDIKAN LITERASI SEJARAH ISLAM BERBASIS KITAB KUNING DI SMK NU WINONG KEMIRI PURWOREJO
Abstract
Today, the problem of people's literacy skills in Indonesia is a serious problem. In 2020 UNESCO said that Indonesia ranks second from the bottom in terms of world literacy, meaning that reading interest is very low. Seeing these problems, educational institutions are responsible for finding the best solution. The subject of Islamic history itself has a challenge, namely material that makes students bored quickly if only delivered by the lecture method. Based on these problems, the purpose of this research is first to find out the teacher's technique in improving the literacy skills of students through the use of the yellow book as a source of learning Islamic history. Second, knowing the supporting factors and inhibiting factors. Data collection methods used by interviews, observation and documentation. The research location is at SMK NU Gebang Purworejo. The results showed that first, the yellow book used was the Khulasoh Nurul Yaqin Book which contains stories of the Ulama. The use of the yellow book as a learning resource increases students' enthusiasm for learning in Islamic history because students are directly involved (active learning). In addition, the use of the yellow book supports the achievement of competence in other subjects. The two supporting factors are 50% of students living in Islamic boarding schools. The inhibiting factor is that the other 50% of students do not have a pesantren background and are new to the yellow book. Another thing is the learning system during the COVID-19 pandemic has not been able to run optimally.
