Kajian Hadis di Kalangan NU (Studi Pemikiran Kh. Hasyim Asy’ari)

Abstract

NU is a religious organization founded by KH. Hasyim Ash'ari. This organization has manhaj (method) in terms of istinbat al-hukm (taking law) to answer a challenge to the modernity of the times. The method uses bahtsul masail which is usually reviewed in various pesantren among NU circles. In this bahtsul masail, NU cites several traditions as a foundation and reinforcer in arguing. However, the hadith in the view of the founder of NU itself has a characteristic and focus of discussion that is not different from muh} addi thin in general. Hadith in the view of KH. Hasyim Ash'ari can be read clearly through his book entitled Risalah Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama’ah. The book was written on the response of the Indonesian religious convention between 1920-1930 AD which some prejudices against NU were labeled bid'ah. This label is pinned on the response of typical NU religious rituals such as tahlilan, slametan and others. The label and prejudice were disputed by the appearance of KH. Hasyim Ash'ari who responded to that. In his essay he explained that the heresy which was intended and pinned to the NU circles, was not the heresy referred to in the Prophet's hadith.
